As author of more than three hundred songs, with music that has been recorded by artists like: SARAH VAUGHAN, CHICAGO, DIZZY GILLESPIE, OSCAR PETERSON, RAMSES LEWIS, DAVE BRUBECK, THOOTS THIELEMANS, JOE PASS, ANDY WILLIANS, JHONNY MATHIS, BEBEL GILBERTO, ASTRUD GILBERTYO, JOE WILLIANS, LEON WARE, SERGIO MENDES, FLORA PURIM, LAURA FIGY, BASIA, ELIANE ELIAS, EUMIR DEODATO, JOÃO DONATO, EMMA BUNTON, GOTHAN PROJECT, JAZZANOVA, FOUR HERO, and many more. He is gaining more and more fans in Europe and Japan.
MARCOS VALLE has had big success on the European dance floors since 1990 with both his original recordings and the re-recordings and re-mixings of his music by other artists and by DJ’s not only in Europe but also in Japan and China. The CD NOVA BOSSA NOVA, produced by MARCOS VALLE and London’s DJ JOE DAVIS, emerged from this music. The CD was recorded both in London and Rio de Janeiro and led to a successful tour in Japan, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Holland and England. MARCOS VALLE’s music caught the attention of the American film director Brad Anderson who used Brazilian music as theme songs in his awarded film NEXT STOP WONDERLAND, where two of MARCOS VALLE’s most popular dance floor music “Batucada surgiu” and “Os Grilos” were included. In China, “Os Grilos” reached 3rd place on the list of the most played songs in 1998. With the show NOVA BOSSA NOVA, MARCOS VALLE received an award from APCA (Association of Art Critics in São Paulo) as being the Best Arranger of the Year and the newspaper O Globo referred to his show as being one of the ten BEST SHOWS OF THE YEAR. Besides from being awarded for his CD NOVA BOSSA NOVA, MARCOS VALLE was paid homage with the award of BMI (in the USA) for his music SAMBA DE VERÃO, an award which, in Brazil, so far only GAROTA DE IPANEMA by TOM JOBIM and VINÍCIUS DE MORAIS had been acknowledged / granted with. In December of 1998 his SONGBOOK, produced by ALMIR CHEDIAK, was released. The SONGBOOK consists of two CD’s with 26 of his biggest successes interpreted by singers like CAETANO VELOSO, MARIA BETHÂNIA, CHICO BUARQUE, PARALAMAS DO SUCESSO, one book with 50 music scores, and photos and stories from his career. Besides from performing once more in Sweden (Gothenburg and Malmö), England (London) and in Denmark (Copenhagen) in July this year, he also performed at the Roskilde Festival which is the biggest music festival in Europe with its audience of about 65.000 people. On july 1999, besides presenting once more in Sweden ( Gotënborg and Malmö ), England and Denmark, he participated of Roskilde Festival, nowadays the biggest music festival in Europe, with a estimated public of 65.000 people. Still in 1999, the government of Rio de Janeiro State, intending to let a carioca ( people who live in Rio ) trademark in a big national campaign “Rio Coração do Brasil ” ( Rio heart of Brazil ), asked Marcos and his brother and partner Paulo Sérgio Valle to compose a theme song, released in a great party on Sugar Loaf. Also participated of “Brazil – 500 years celebrations”, taking Bossa Nova to Montreal, on a concert organized by Brazilian Consulate in Canada. In the year 2000 Marcos recorded his recent CD, also for Farout, ESCAPE, giving continuity to his career in Europe, the releasing was on March 2001, with a tour that included Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, England and Spain. Receiving incredible reviews, the Straight No Chaser called him “ President Valle “, and Time Out says that “ In case Marcos had composed in English, he would be between the 4 most popular composers of all time, Irvin Berlin, Burt Bacharad and Leonard Bersntein “. In September, Marcos together with Nelson Motta and Dé composed the bossa “Doce Viver “with became the “lead song” of last Emílio Santiago’s CD. In 2001, Marcos Valle recorded with Roberto Menescal and Wanda Sá a live CD. The three got together to sing and tell stories of Bossa Nova. Friends for a long time ( Menescal was one of his “godfather” in beginning of his career ), they have composed together, for the first time, the song “ Bossa Entre Amigos “, with is title of CD and concerts that happens in all capitals of Brazil. On March 2001 he continues the release of his CD ESCAPE in Europe, with a lot of concerts in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and England. On May he has to Italy, participating of Pavia Festival, in Visconteo Castle in a great concert besides Roberto Menescal, Wanda Sá and Danilo Caymmi. On June 2001 he returns to Denmark, Sweden and England for a series of concerts. On September he participated on a big tour. For the 4th time in the year he went to Europe to release his new CD, presenting in Portugal, Ireland, and Denmark. From there went straight to Japan to release ESCAPE ( Farout / Rice ) and 6 more CDs, the classicals GARRA, MUSTANG COR DE SANGUE, MARCOS VALLE 1970, PREVISÃO DO TEMPO, VONTADE DE REVER VOCÊ and SAMBA 68, all of them released at the same time by Emy-Toshiba. These releasings were followed by a season of great success in Blue Notes of Tokio, Osaka and Fukuoka, in a total of 20 concerts. Marcos was also awarded by the japonese magazine Adlib as the best CD of the year 2001, in the World / New Age Price category, in other categories, Janet Jackson and Sting also were awarded. On March and July 2002,Marcos once more returns to Europe and Japan to realize two tours around CD ESCAPE,inccluding MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL in Swiss,and GET..S BOSSA in Tokyo,Osaka,and for the 1st time on the circuit,Yokohama. In December of the same year, the label TRAMA releases CD Escape in Brazil. At the beginning of February 2003,the label ROBDIGITAL release his CD “MARCOS VALLE E VITOR BIGLIONE-LIVE IN MONTREAL,recorded live during his perfomance at Teatro Corona,in Montreal. One of the biggest hits of Marcos Valle and Paulo Sergio Valle,”Preciso Aprender a Ser Só” ,is included on TV Globo Program Series MULHERES APAIXONADAS,through a new version sang by the siner MARIA BETHÂNIA. In November 2003,through a new Japonese and European Tour,for 2 months,FAROUT RECORDINGS releases Marcos new CD,”CONTRASTS”,and TRAMA does the same in Brzil on March 2004. On July 2004,Marcos returns to Europe for a new 1 month tour,still promoting his CD “CONTRASTS”.This time,he performs at the most important European music festivals,as “San Sebastian Festival”,”Fórum de Barcelona”,Nürnberg Festival”,etc.. Between April and May 2005, he records an instrumental CD, JET SAMBA, performing some of his songs. Besides playing acoustic piano, Rhodes keyboards , Accoustic Piano , Mellodica and guitar , he wrote all arrangements and orchestrations. It was released on August 2005 by the label DUBAS. This CD was choosed by the most important Brazilian newspaper " O GLOBO " one of the best 10 CDs of 2005 , including national and foreign , vocal and instrumental CDs . And had received the very important TIM AWARD , as the best Brazilian Instrumental CD of 2005 . On September 30,October 1 and 2,Marcos has been the host for 3 evenings at “Cirque D..Hiver”,on ‘Festival ILE DE FRANCE” in Paris. It has been a big success, with close to 2000 persons each night, mostly young people. ON April 2006 , "JET SAMBA " was released in Europe , Japan and USA by Universal , and Marcos toured again in Europe ( many different countries ) , from October until November . The tour was a success . ON January 2007 , Marcos perfomed , with his band , in Australia , being 3 shows at Sydney Festival and 2 at Melbourne Festival . His guests have been João Donato , Wanda Sá and Roberto Menescal . All the ticketa were sold out 1 month before the first show . On April 2008 , Marcos perfomed at Tokyo and Nagoya Blue Notes , releasing his CD " MARCOS VALLE CARIOCA SOUL ", for FAROUT RECORDINGS . On May , he performed , along with other artists , at London Barbican Hall , celebrating the 50th Bossa Nova Aniversary . At the end of May , he released his first DVD , "MARCOS VALLE CONECTA" . The DVD ( and CD ) was recorded live at the carioca club CINEMATHEQUE , during 4 evenings , on each one he had a guest : MARCELO CAMELO , MORENO + KASSIN + DOMENICO ( +2 ), FINO COLETIVO , and DJs PLINIO PROFETA and NADO LEAL . On September , he perfomed at Sydney Opera House , in Australia , and at Esplanade Hall , in Cingapore , along with Roberto Menescal , João Donato , Vinicius Cantuaria and Wanda Sá , also celebrating Bossa Nova 50 Years . In 2009 , Marcos recorded and released 2 CDs : in March , " OS BOSSA NOVA " , together with CARLOS LYRA , JOÃO DONATO and ROBERTO MENESCAL , singing and playing together new and not so new own songs . In October , " PÁGINA CENTRAL " , together with Celso Fonseca , recorded with a big orchestra , including some of the best Brazilian musicians . For this CD , Marcos and Celso wrote 12 new songs in partnership , and sang and performed them together . They achieved great reviews with this work . Both above CDs were released in Brasil by BISCOITO FINO , and "PÁGINA CENTRAL " was released in Japan on October by BLUES INTER ACTION . On September 11th , the famous USA Rapper JAY Z , married to Beyoncé , has released a new CD , number 1 on charts for many weeks , including a partnership with Marcos . Jay Z has used Marcos song " ELE E ELA " , recorded by Marcos on 1970 , wrote the words , and entitled it "THANK YOU ' , second track on his " BLUE PRINT " CD. On November, Marcos recorded his new CD for FAROUT Recordings, with 10 new songs, which will be released on April 2010. |
