For five years the Puerto Rican Band Calle 13 has been one of the most popular and innovative in Latin music. The group's wide - ranging approach has yielded them 10 previous Latin Grammys and two Grammy Awards. The group’s founders and creative core are a pair of stepbrothers: the boisterous, restless Mr. Pérez, 32, whose stage name is Residente, and the slender and restrained Eduardo Cabra Martínez, 31, known as Visitante. Rapper Residente has found his style in clever, satirical lyrics. DJ Visitante still provides the most innovative beats in Latin urban music, experimenting with sounds from all across Latin America. As the duo gradually have branched out from their reggaeton roots to incorporate salsa, tango, electronica, hip – hop, cumbia and rock, they have crafted their own musical style merged with lyrics about rich and poor, struggle and rebellion. In order to this Calle 13 is performing a high energy live set, that is appealing not only to crowds in San Juan and the Caribbean, but also to listeners in places such as Mexico City and Buenos Aires. An 11 piece ensemble, including horn and percussion is keeping the audience moving. Liberate your hips and your mind will follow - their fans believe in them.
