Da Cruz
»Da Cruz transformed the music of the cool Bossa-Nova-Romantics in the presence, and dances with it towards the future« WDR
Da Cruz first saw the light of day in 2005, when beat maker Ane H. stumbled upon a female Brazilian singer performing Brazilian Bossa Nova music in an Irish pub. But instead of moving that classical sensibility over to the producer’s beats, she became frenetic instead of tuneful, sharp instead of sweet. Da Cruz’s appeal lies in their distinctly urban roots — the beats are raw, the synths rugged and blistering. On the group's third album „Sistema Subversiva“, they create a sound that is big, messy and extremely funky. This four-piece band miraculously succeeds in creating some higly contemporary yet firmly classical, deeply urban but still open-minded fusion of styles. It’s a flavorful musical explosion that is intentionally disquieting, a thrilling fusion of Hi-Tech-Punk-Samba. Da Cruz have recently played the greatest venues between London and Sao Paulo, Paris and Berlin.
